We ALREADY know that research can save lives.
After 50 years of inadequate funding, documented in multiple national reports, the National Trauma Institute advocates for an investment in research that is commensurate with the burden of trauma—a public health challenge that claims more than 190,000 lives and costs Americans $671 Billion every year.
Even a 5% reduction in burden translates to 10,000 lives and $33 billion saved
NTI’s 2015 Successes:
- Working within the Coalition for National Trauma Research, NTI advocated in Washington to secure funding in the DoD Health Programs budget for a military/civilian national trauma clinical trials network.
- NTI received $4.6 million Department of Defense contract to build a National Trauma Research Repository and conduct several clinical studies.
- NTI was awarded $1 Million in funding from the Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program for studies on early detection of hemorrhagic shock and transfusion using stored fresh whole blood.
